Why hire a producer to record your demo or album?

The simple answer is - It costs less.

Record producers get a discounted rate at certain studios because of the clientele they bring to the studios. This can save a few bucks but isn't the most important element to be considered when hiring a record producer. The knowledge that an experienced producer provides can save a significant amount of the initial recording budget. A producer will make sure that all musicians are properly rehearsed and ready to perform in a professional studio environment. Most projects that have live drums will need to have the band rehearse and record to a metronome. For some new bands, this can be a nightmare without the proper coaching and guidance.

Deadlines always have to be met and when you get into the studio, it is much like a casino. There are no visible clocks, tons of flashy lights and the most promising sounds of riches pump through the air at high volume. Even the most seasoned artists can become distracted in this setting. The producer always stays focused on the sound the artist looks to achieve and keeps all parties involved on task and adhering to time constraints. Recording an album can be easy when the right people are involved.
